Meet Samantha Thompson

Born and raised in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Samantha developed a passion for dance after taking her first classes at just three years old. Over the years, she has trained in a variety of styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater, hip hop, and pom. Samantha began competing at age eight and continued her competitive dance career through her graduation from North Hunterdon High School. In addition to her studio training, she was a four-year member of her high school’s dance team.

Samantha continued her dance journey at the University of Connecticut, where she was a four-year member of the UConn Dance Team. During her time on the team, she performed at home football and basketball games, community outreach events, and the UDA National Collegiate Championships in Orlando each year. She held a variety of leadership roles throughout her four years, including Rookie of the Year (2022–2023), First Year Mentor (2024–2025), Nationals and Recruitment Committee Leader (2025–2026), and Captain (2025–2026).

Her collegiate dance experience provided Samantha with many amazing opportunities to perform and travel. She has danced at Madison Square Garden, appeared on The TODAY Show, and represented UConn at several rounds of the NCAA March Madness tournament for both the men’s and women’s teams. Her travels took her to Las Vegas for the Men’s Sweet 16/Elite 8 in 2023, TD Garden in Boston for the Men’s Sweet 16/Elite 8 in 2024, Philadelphia for the Men’s Round of 64/Round of 32 in 2026, and Indianapolis for the Men’s Final Four and National Championship in 2026.

Samantha is passionate about sharing her love of dance with the next generation of dancers. She strives to create an encouraging environment where students can build confidence, develop their technique, and most importantly, find the same joy in dance that has inspired her throughout her life.
